HOME AWAY FROM HOME! This is a small family run hotel. We were greeted on arrival by the owner Margaret who gave us very useful information on where we should visit. Bedroom was second floor and the hotel has a lift. Room was spotless and spacious. Breakfast had plenty of choice from buffet and everything from the breakfast menu was cooked fresh. Staff will bend over backwards to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Dinner was SCRUMPTIOUS on all 3 nights. The dinner menu was extensive and they also have 3-4 different special dishes each evening. Hotel is located in a tranquil area which was exactly what we wanted. All staff were professional, courteous and had time for all the hotel guests. The hotel was excellent value and we will DEFINITELY be back ????

The bedroom was spacious and beds were very comfy. The breakfast rooms were well laid out and the staff were very helpful. There was a good choice for breakfast. The swimming pool is really good and we were fortunate in the times we chose to use it. We enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful little spot with lovely view and boats on the marina . The hotel is pleasant and really homely . Nice fresh bed linen and a bath !!! Close to carrick on Shannon and a really good chipper within 5 minute walk !! We would love to go back

Food fantastic, and fantastic value, both evening meal and breakfast. Staff mostly friendly. Evening meal service only stats at 6pm, I normally eat at 4 or 5pm. I was offered service from the bar menu, which was mostly sandwiches with chips: I declined because I wanted a "proper" dinner. Drinks prices at the bar were reasonable ( 1pint Guinness about €5.50 - July 2025). Staff were exceptionally helpful, serving me with a sticky toffee pudding to take up to my room 30 mins after the restaurant had closed. Breakfast included CRISPY rashers!!, gorgeous, lovely pot of tea, too. One downside was the chair in the room, which was very hard and uncomfortable. The walk-in shower also drained onto the bathroom floor, rathr tahn down a drain.. Have booked again. GREAT VALUE

Lovely hotel lovely staff. Breakfast was amazing on both mornings I have to say. Dinner menu was not the greatest I have seen and had dinner on the 2 evenings which were lovely. Room was spotless and bed was so comfy

Central, close to train and in centre of Portlaoise. Short drive to abbeyleix bog walk. Had food in the restaurant and it was lovely and reasonably priced. Good choice of breakfast. Beds a bit on the soft side

Great place to stay in Waterford and great value for money ..nice food ,both breakfast and dinner were lovely ...very friendly staff also ...there was music in the bar on both nights of our stay it was great entertainment...will definitely return again.

Pier Head Hotel & Spa, Sligo
The staff in the hotel are fabulous, so friendly and welcoming. The pool is an added bonus. The room was lovely and big and the bed was comfortable The food at breakfast was very nice and the dinner menu was reasonably priced.
